QUIESST database of European NRD

Measurement methods for testing the acoustic performance of the NRD

The collected data comprise more than 400 test results from in-situ reflection measurements, around 120 tests of sound absorption in the laboratory, 250 tests for in-situ sound insulation, and 100 tests for sound insulation in the laboratory. The diagram below shows the amount of data collected for each of the methods used for measuring the acoustic performance of NRD. The following measurement methods are currently present in the database:

  • Laboratory method for measurement of sound absorption according to EN 1793-1
  • Laboratory method for measurement of sound insulation according to EN 1793-2
  • In-situ method for measurements of sound absorption according to CEN/TS 1793-5 (also called Adrienne method for in-situ sound reflection)
  • In-situ method for measurements of sound insulation according to prEN 1793-6 (also called Adrienne method for in-situ sound insulation)
  • The French in-situ method for sound absorption and airborne sound insulation NFS 31089
  • The new developed QUIESST method for measurements of sound reflection
